Journaling Continued...and New Endeavors

  • Journaling isn't like coloring. You don't have to stay in the lines. You can be as creative (or as conservative and structured) as you like. You can test out your drawing skills (or in my case, the lack of skill), use it like a daily scrap-book with photos and ticket stubs from events you've experienced, you can practice writing in a different language, write with your non-dominant hand, write in code, upside-down, sideways--this is your journal. You can do with it whatever you want! The beauty in this, is that there are NO limitations.
  • Journaling can be a real-time solution to problems. It can be your best friend, therapist and loyal dog all rolled into one. If you focus long enough on a particular issue, you will eventually come around to solving a problem, making a tough decision, or at the bare minimum--getting all that junk off your chest.

New Endeavors

Writing short non-fiction pieces for sale, while I'm polishing my novels. My passion is writing fiction, but writing in general is play for me. I could write sixteen hours a day and still never run out of ideas!

A friend I met through the local NaNoWriMo has talked me into writing series of reports for Holly Lisle which could be a good step for me because she is also in the business of publishing fiction. Another possible endeavor is that Judy Rosella Edwards (the local Wrimo) is considering a partnership with me, e:publishing smaller reports. Where Holly Lisle's focus is "33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About _____," Judy wants to focus more on "How-To _____. "

And since there are so many writers on my blog roll, do any of you have experience with Suite101 or HubPages? What about writing for local publications? I wrote an article for Senior News & Views a few years ago. They liked the idea (how to select a nursing home & what to look for in elder abuse) and subsequently the article so they published it, but I didn't get any money for it. It's just something nice to add to my resume. I'm just not sure how much writing I can do for free right now.

Anyway, I'm back in circulation. I think (I hope!). Happy Sunday!
